Season summary

After our highly successful Wicklow Road Championship, Amidou Dembele came close to lowering our club 5 km record at the Rathfarnham 5 km race finishing in 17:35 and 76th position in a race that is arguably Ireland's most competitive 5 kilometre race.

Members of our club also competed in the Wicklow Fit4Life League throughout the season. Angus Tyner secured two podium positions in the M45 category while club coach Rene Borg nabbed 3rd, 1st and 2nd position in the Senior Men (Under-35) category in the Roundwood 2 mile, Djouce Trail and Greystones 2 mile respectively.

Claire O'Callaghan has dominated the Senior Women's category with 4th victories and three 2nd place finishes and looks likely to claim the title for the year ahead of the last race of the season.

April 22nd 2015

First quick update: our club acquitted itself very well today in its first Wicklow Road Championships securing two individual medals: gold for Angus Tyner in the O45 category and silver for Claire O'Callaghan in the Senior women's category. We are likely in with a shout of one or two team medals as well. Those results will be announced in the next few days.

There were 7 personal bests set including by Angus (17:18, a new club record) and Claire (20:05) so the event got the best out of a lot of our runners! Special mention to Barry O'Neill who predicted 18:37 and ran ... 18:37 being our second finisher in the process.

Full results, pictures etc. to follow in the coming days, in the meantime well done to everyone. It was a terrific race with a very competitive field and the organisation was top notch so thanks to the hosts Wicklow Athletics and Ashford AC as well.
