Glendalough Mountains AC was founded in 2014 to promote running and athletics in the Laragh/Glendalough area of Co. Wicklow. Our current members reside in a variety of locations from Bray, Kilmacanogue, Wicklow Town, Ashford, Meath, Dublin, Newtown, Rathdrum and Laragh/Glendalough (among other places).
Our club is fondly referred to as ‘GMAC’ and it’s members the ‘GMACers’.

An Athletics Ireland club
We are part of Sli Cualann AC competing under that banner in Regional and National events and as Glendalough AC in County Wicklow.
We are an Athletics Ireland and Wicklow Athletics affiliated club and you will recognise us by our traditional Laragh colours: blazing yellow and green.
We are a friendly club open to beginners as well as elites and collaborating with Wicklow Wolf Brewery to run the social running club ‘Wicklow Wolf RC‘.

We organise a number of iconic events such as the Lap of the Gap Marathon and the Run the Ridge 20k trail race and we actively support the Quest Glendalough, Laragh Trail Race and EcoTrail Wicklow as part of our club fundraising activities every year.
Our focus
Our focus is equally on all running disciplines – cross-country, road, track and mountain running and we have won local and regional medals across all of these and have a very active community of runners some who race regularly and some who mainly enjoy to train or the social aspect of running.

We put great emphasis on the latter part: most of our runs are book-ended with coffee/tea in the local coffee shops in particularly the Glendalough Green in Laragh and the Roundwood Stores in Roundwood.
Most of all we want people to enjoy their running and learn the training habits that can sustain a lifelong enjoyment of the sport and the activity.
