Another busy week of race results with our runners taking on several road races, the good trails of Belmont Estate and the traditional mountain race ‘Circuit of Avonbeg’.
CIRCUIT OF AVONBEG
We had three runners in the Leinster Championship race ‘Circuit of Avonbeg’ – a 25 km (or more depending on navigation) open mountain race starting and finishing in Glenmalure.
Graham Bushe was still recovering from his personal ‘Arderrin challenge’ – where he clocked 12 Wicklow arderrins in 6 hours but got himself home in 17th with John Conway in 19th – now fully recovered from the niggle that forced him to drop out of the Mourne Seven Sevens.
Torben Dahl was our next finisher – 12 years after making his IMRA debut on this exact course (finishing 8th). This time – on tired legs – he had to settle for 28th.

WEXFORD 10K AND HALF-MARATHON
Eight days after his 5 km PB in Shanganagh, Blaise Kinsella was at it again finishing 11th overall in the Wexford 10k in 40:47 – taking nearly 1.5 min off his previous best of 42:15.

Gleb Reys was running in the half-marathon and couldn’t quite snatch a PB on the day but finished in the middle of the field in 1:56:24.

BELMONT AND LITTLE SUGARLOAF
The IMRA Leinster League kicked off on the hardpacked trails of Belmont with the technical rocky ‘Little Sugarloaf’ in the middle and here Brian Lydon was our first man home followed by Diarmuid Kavanagh and Sarah Foster representing our ladies section in the 148 strong field.

SHANGANAGH PARKRUN
In the Shanganagh ParkRun Blaise Kinsella banked a surprise 5 km PB of 18:36 knocking 50 seconds off his previous best.

STREETS OF KILKENNY 5K
Not to be outdone Donna Quinn ran another PB (her 3rd in 2022) only 1 second short of Rachel Wisdom’s club record of 19:03 and the fifth fastest personal best run by current female members of our club. Donna’s previous mark was 19:17. The time also broke Yvonne Brennan’s F40 club record (20:25).
